Siacoin holders are being urged to move their funds ahead of the June fork. The SIA network is still receiving the biggest upgrade as major V2 hard forks are scheduled for June 6th. Once released, anyone who uses old software or saves Sheacoin in an unupgraded exchange will be disconnected.
According to a blog post on Monday, Fork has introduced an entirely new architecture, reworking the core file sharing protocol, and breaking functionality into modular components. Calling it “a foundation overhaul” and “regeneration,” the SIA Foundation has assembled the V2 as a clean break from the legacy system. The new rules stop synchronization if nodes running old software. The wallet will no longer be usable. Storage contracts are no longer valid.
To stay on the network, users must migrate to version 2 compatible stacks (Renterd, hostd, and walletD) and migrate their wallets accordingly. We have confirmed that some crypto exchanges support migrations such as Binance, Kraken, Poloniex. Bitmart, Coinw, and Gate.io have not yet made any commitments or have no technical discussions. Bibit and Bithumb have not publicly confirmed whether they will support new upgrades at all.
