Cryptocurrency Exchange’s Gate held an interview with Puffverse, the Web3 gaming platform, to discuss the strategic direction of the project, product development, talknomics, and long-term planning.

As the GameFi sector moves from standalone projects to interconnected ecosystems, Puffverse distinguishes itself through a combination of product integration, artificial intelligence capabilities, and expansion of intellectual property. Developed by former Xiaomi team members and supported by investors such as Animoca Brands and Ronin Network, Puffverse aims to establish a broad “plant” IP ecosystem that incorporates gaming, social engagement, AI and hardware.

Puffverse (PFVS) was also launched as the first project for Gate Launchpad, attracting great interest in the industry. The campaign concludes with over 35,000 participants and a total subscription volume of 656,514,966 USDT, reflecting the oversubscription rate of 938X.

Team background and strategic vision

According to Puffverse, the Xiaomi team’s background is affecting development strategies by providing platform-based operational perspectives and global-scale data insights that are not normally found in single-production game studios. This experience allowed the project to focus on building a more sustainable and scalable Web3 gaming environment. The team’s foundation in Web2 game development is seen as a major advantage as it allows for the implementation of innovative economic structures tailored to platform dynamics, rather than simple feature updates. Puffverse emphasizes user-centric design and prioritizes engagement and retention through meaningful content and incentive systems.

The project is also planning to expand into a multi-genre gaming ecosystem that incorporates Puffverse’s IP-linked AI-generated content and intelligent agents. These agents are designed to evolve based on user interaction, gradually developing individual behaviors and patterns unique to each player. Beyond gameplay, Puffverse envisions integrating real data through wearable devices, allowing characters in the game to reflect the player’s physical activity. This approach aims to unify virtual and real-world experiences by combining elements of SportFi, GameFi, SocialFi, and AI into a cohesive user journey.

Puffverse describes dual strategic investments from Animoca Brands and Ronin Network/Sky Mavis as a shared outlook for long-term partnerships built on Aligned goals and platform-centric development for the Web3 space. Animoca Brands not only serves as capital, but also as a market production partner. This helps you maintain price stability using your experience with token market dynamics. Additionally, the MoCaverse ecosystem supports Puffverse through collaborative marketing efforts such as Airdrops and community engagement tools that contribute to user acquisition. Meanwhile, beyond acting as a project’s blockchain infrastructure, the Ronin network also offers community and market exposure. Known for its active gaming audience, Ronin offers collaboration possibilities within a wider ecosystem. Puffverse positions token strategies for long-term value creation, highlighting its distribution among engaged users as a way to strengthen the overall token economy.

Product innovation and ecosystem design

Puffverse aims to integrate multiple titles from Puffgo, Puffsim and Puffworld on top of a shared IP framework, providing a variety of user experiences across games, utilities, and social interactions. This interconnected approach supports a scalable ecosystem where user engagement in one product can scale to other products, and AI agent systems plan to connect data and behavior between titles.

A casual, competitive entry point, Puffgo is designed to be accessible to non-crypto native users. This project highlights gameplay first design. In this design, players acquire account value through in-game achievements under the “skills to acquire” model.

Blockchain interactions are gradually introduced using options trading and traditional payment options to reduce friction.

When it comes to content creation, Puffverse is working with Unity to evolve user-generated content into an AI-generated model. Once implemented, this forms the basis for the “AIGC-to-earn” system that rewards users for creating and participating in collaborative maps. Additional features such as map ratings, reward sharing, future integrations such as multiplayer observations and live streaming are intended to expand appeal to both Web2 and Web3 audiences.

Talknomics and User Acquisition Strategy

Puffgo’s “skills acquired” model highlights competitive benefits rather than time-based rewards, aiming to prevent economic inflation by linking player revenues to in-game performance. Future features such as tournaments and new gameplay modes are designed to enhance competitiveness and increase long-term engagement. The ecosystem also incorporates a staking system via Vepuff, where seasonal rewards are distributed through time-locked tokens. Early withdrawals will result in penalties that are redistributed to long-term participants, thereby promoting economic stability and incentives to promote sustainable growth.

The limited edition NFT is interoperable across Puffgo and Puffsim, with future plans to expand the utility across the Ronin ecosystem. Puffworld has already tested AI-driven cloud rendering to support Digital Assets’ vision of moving fluidly across platforms. Collaboration with external IPs is being developed to enhance NFT utilities and promote multiverse experiences.

Regarding to token sustainability, PFV plays a central role in seasonal content and staking. Its long-term value is supported through a gradual utility rollout, including map creation tools and integration into competitive events. Strategic measures such as long-term token lockups, FIAT-based buybacks and hardware partnerships are being considered to reduce selling pressure and extend practicality to physical applications.

Community development and ecosystem growth

Given the diverse patterns of behavior across global markets, the project employs a region-specific approach with a focus specifically on Southeast Asia, Europe and Latin America. Puffgo’s casual gameplay format helps achieve daily active users with medium average revenue per user, providing a strategic starting point for introducing users to the wider puff ecosystem. Local engagement efforts such as guild partnerships, influencer outreach and offline events are pursued to strengthen community engagement and increase local traction.

In terms of filling in digital experiences and physical experiences, the team is working towards a “plant” IP model that incorporates hardware integration and potential collaboration with the Web2 brand. Inspired by trends in a merchandising-based economy, Puffverse intends to expand the existence of IP beyond the screen. In the pilot market of choice, the project will test the compatibility of wearable devices and allow users to interact with the avatar through real-world behavior data. This approach aims to increase brand engagement by embedding puff IP into users’ daily lives.

The upcoming launch of a cloud-based gaming platform developed in collaboration with international collaborators is aimed at addressing fragmentation within the Web3 gaming sector. Currently under testing, the platform is scheduled to be released in beta by late 2024 or early 2025, providing access to over 200 mini-games. Efforts are also underway to establish a viable monetization framework to support long-term sustainability.

Regarding AIGC-equipped 2D to 3D NFT conversion, the underlying engine has already undergone successful technical verification, demonstrating high conversion accuracy, suggesting the powerful potential of scaling as a next-generation content generation tool.

From a broader strategic perspective, Puffverse focuses on cross-device compatibility, accessible gameplay, and platform-level operational expertise as a core differentiator. These elements are supported by international user data and modular integrated systems, and are intended to support rapid ecosystem growth and provide a competitive advantage that can be defensive in the evolving Web3 gaming situation.
