They experiment with talented defenses in Bitcoin wallets

9 months ago 2 Min Read

On June 26, Ben Sigman, an active collaborator in the Bitcoiner ecosystem, conducted an experiment to modify BlueWallet, a popular wallet for managing Bitcoin (BTC), with the aim of demonstrating a practical defense against the dangers of quantum attacks.

Sigman, CEO of Bitcoin Libre, created the BlueWallet Fork. That is, adapting new elements with the fork of the original code. In this experimental version, he incorporated algorithms such as Shake-127 and Sphincs+, designed to be resistant to quantum computers.

These algorithms are part of the talented standards proposed by the U.S. Standards and Technology Institute (NIST) in the 2024 draft. The NIST proposal could theoretically reduce the threat of quantum algorithms such as short, which could decipher current Bitcoin ciphers based on elliptic curves (ECDSA).

As Sigman explained, the direction produced is authentic and derived from the seed phrase. However, the format base58,Bitcoin addresses generally contain a prefix “BC1” that is not valid on the current Bitcoin network, and at least the relevant signature types are incompatible for now.

Sigman makes it clear It’s a proof of conceptwhich means that although it is functional in theory, it cannot be used in real transactions.

The following image shared by Sigman shows the modified BlueWallet wallet interface. Here, the post-Atlantic address is displayed next to options such as options such as options. “View the quantum proof” (see quantum tests) and “See address after Quantum” (See oral address).

This reflects a design that allows users to explore how these new companies can integrate. Posttave encryption replaces traditional digital companies It has a method that is resistant to quantum attacksif a quantum computer is able to break the current private key, it ensures that the funds are secure.

As reported by Cryptonoticias, Ben Sigman is already contributing to Bitcoin quantum computing.

Last December, he insisted on a Bitcoin 360 improvement proposal (BIP-360) Prepare BTC for resistance to quantum threats.
