Circle brings CCTP V2 to Unicane instantly with USDC movement

7 months ago 4 Min Read
  • Circle launched the CCTP V2 at Unichain, enabling developer-friendly automation tools such as faster USDC transfers and hooks.
  • CCTP V2 provides improved capital efficiency through the burn mint model, reducing liquidity fragmentation across the network.

It’s Unichain’s turn, which has previously been present on various networks and has now officially become connected to Circle’s Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol Version 2 (CCTP V2). This step was officially announced by Circle yesterday and was immediately warmly welcomed by the Crypto community. There’s not only about the speed of network transfers, but also about new flexibility that makes life much easier for developers.

CCTP V2 is now available on @unichain!

Important benefits for developers and users:
Fast transfer: CrossChain @USDC settlement in seconds
foods: smart contract integration for post-move actions
💸 Capital Efficiency: 1:1 Burn and Mint, No Liquidity Pool or Filler

Fastest transfers and smarter automation in one package

In previous versions, USDC users who wanted to send assets from one chain to another had to wait a few minutes for the transaction to complete. now? The process was reduced to just a few seconds.

That alone is good news, but the CCTP V2 doesn’t stop there. Circle also introduces a feature called Hooks, a kind of smart tool that allows for automated actions immediately after the transfer is complete. For example, after the USDC moves to a new chain, the token can either be staking immediately or exchanged for other assets immediately.

Furthermore, the presence of CCTP V2 on Unichain makes it a part of Circle’s increasingly dense cross-chain ecosystem. Previously, CNF reported that World Chain also integrated this protocol.

Supporting simple burn and mint processes, world chain users can now stream USDC to a variety of networks without hassle. This protocol does not require special authority, is secure and is ideal for networks that want to increase flexibility between Defi applications.

Circle allows for ease of both developers and everyday users

If I could compare, the old process was like transferring money between different bank branches. now? It feels like you’re scanning your QRI at a coffee shop. Circles also seem to understand that speed alone is not enough. So it also presents automated logic that is more practical for developers to use. No additional integration is required for post-movement execution. Just using the hook and the problem occurs.

On the other hand, this integration will result in increasingly significant capital efficiency. Instead of locking funds to various networks just for liquidity, developers can now rely on Circle’s more efficient and flexible burn mint model.

This could be a solution for small teams who want to build their products without too much capital to spread liquidity everywhere.

As an additional note, Circle is also actively preparing its global digital payments infrastructure. In May, we launched CPN Mainnet, which allows payments for instant cross-border blockchains with real-time visibility. The CPN also supports a variety of major international payment channels. Therefore, Circle is serious about building the global financial channels promoted by Stablecoins.

Interestingly, USDC use is also beginning to permeate the real world. At Bermuda’s Digital Finance Forum, Coinbase confirmed that local residents have begun using USDC for their daily shopping. It even had an airdrop targeting 250 residents, with almost $40,000 in transactions recorded in one day.

Currently, the presence of CCTP V2 in Unichain makes the opportunity to expand USDC usage even more widespread. Is this the beginning of more networks? That may be true.
