Babylon Genesis plans to roll out testnets for multi-staking and EVM support this summer, with both features scheduled to start live on the mainnet in the fourth quarter of this year.

Bitcoin (BTC) staking protocol Babylon Genesis has announced its roadmap for 2025, marking the completion of Babylon’s core staking infrastructure and outlines a series of milestones that open the door to lending, trading and BTCFI native applications such as Stabrecoin.

This summer, the protocol will launch multi-staking testnet support, allowing a single BTC location to protect multiple networks simultaneously. The first integration includes Ethereum rollups such as Optimism and Arbitrum, as well as various cosmos chains.

Alongside the multi-staking testnet, Babylon is preparing to launch the Ethereum virtual machine testnet, allowing developers to deploy DEFI applications directly to Babylon Genesis using the familiar Ethereum tools.

Q4 reveals both multi-staking and EVM features on MainNet, along with RPC upgrades, faster blocking times, and integration with IBC and Layerzero. Babylon Genesis is also featured in the BTCFI Dapps suite, placing itself as a running layer for Bitcoin native Defi.

In parallel, Babylon Labs aims to continue R&D in the liquidity layer of native Bitcoin using BitVM, allowing for unreliable cross-chain BTC use. The first real-world application of this work is expected to be released in the first quarter of 2026.

Babylon Genesis, released in April this year, marked the official release of the first Layer-1 blockchain protected by native Bitcoin. This followed the early Phase 1 rollout last August, followed by the introduction of independent BTC staking via Bitcoin contracts, allowing users to have full control over BTC while participating in network security. According to Defillama, Babylon is currently ranked second among TVL’s redevelopment protocols, with $19.81 billion locked and tracking only Eigenlayer.
