Telegram is expanding access to Crypto wallets for 87 million users in the US
Named because it is built on top of the Ton blockchain, Ton wallets are integrated directly into the Telegram app. By being present within the app, Telegram’s Crypto Wallet is supposed to form an easy on-ramp for new Crypto users.
Telegram has been offering crypto wallets to international users since 2023, but has not been able to deploy in the US due to regulatory uncertainty. According to Telegram, more than 100 million global users have activated their wallets last year. That’s about 10% of Telegram’s billion active users. According to public data, approximately 334,000 transactions are processed on the tonne blockchain per day.
