A BTC below 1 may be enough to retire: Why is it here?

6 months ago 3 Min Read

The question of how much bitcoin you need to retire has probably been asked by most investors, and recent research may have an answer.

Bitcoin researcher and investor Smitty has created a model that calculates the amount of BTC required to retire.

“Most people in most countries need less than one BTC (retirement) in 2035,” he said, adding that if they retire this year, most countries need between 1 and 10 BTC.

This model is based on the average income levels in each country and is adjusted using Bitcoin’s electricity law model to predict inflation, age of retirement, and prices.

Retirement with Bitcoin

Naturally, people living in expensive countries such as the US and most of Europe need more Bitcoin to maintain their lifestyle during their retirement. However, in more than half of the listed countries, less than one BTC is sufficient to retire most people in 2035.

For retirement in 2045, people in almost all countries need less than one BTC except for a few ultra-rich places, and in many cases, research shows that just 0.1 BTC is sufficient.

How much Bitcoin does the average person need to retire?

Here, it is calculated and presented in a radial chart.
He was 5-75 years old in 96 countries, retired from 2025 to 2055.

The findings assume that Bitcoin prices will continue to rise according to the power method model derived by taking BTC resistance and support bands.

These bands are derived by obtaining a linear regression of historical Bitcoin prices and deriving a “power method,” expressed as a line that shows the correlation between BTC price and time.

By 2035, the Electricity Act forecast shows that BTC will be valued at $1.7 million, which is enough for most people to retire.

One hardens rare variety

Moreover, keeping only one BTC is rarer than being a billionaire. According to blockchain data, the actual number of unique people who own one bitcoin is around 800,000-850,000, which is just an estimate.

Wholecoiners, with 8 billion people on the planet, accounts for just 0.01% to 0.02% of the population, and even those with 1 BTC are rarer than the estimated 106 million billionaires worldwide.

According to GlassNode, addresses with balances above 1 BTC exceeded 1 million last year, including exchanges and facility whales.
