Since August 10th, 1,800 BTC (1,800 BTC, over $212 million) has moved for the first time in years in the past four days, following the string of four 100 BTC transactions since 2012.

The old-fashioned Bitcoin Stash keeps waking up

After a report on 400 BTC shifts from separate bitcoin addresses that were first established in 2012, a similar transaction was followed on the same day from a wallet tagged with “17p8xs”, sending 100 btc from the address created on July 20, 2012.

It appears to be between blocks 909724 and 909897 later, but this same owner returns and moves another 800 BTC, spreading to eight separate 100 BTC transactions. In the four days since the report, a total of 10 transfers from the wallet over the long term in 2012 brought 900.50201735 BTC to $106 million.

One of these transactions was a relatively modest move of 0.50000904 BTC. Despite today’s massive turbulence, Bitcoin prices rose last week, but since 2013, 17 unique wallets moved 434.57813656 BTC, $51.39 million, over a four-day period.

Of these, 16 transfers each were exactly 25 btc. The August activities didn’t end there. The 122 wallets, created between 2014 and 2017, sent 464.10948194 BTC worth $54.888 million, marking the first move since its inception.

As with July, perhaps less dramatic, August is becoming another fascinating month of dormant Bitcoin awakening. Longtime holders seem to be noting that prices are higher than ever, with some people not only repositioning their digital fate, but also cashing out.
