According to the latest metrics, Bitcoin hashrate passed the 976 Exahash (EH/S) records per second that hit on August 8, 2025. Currently, the network’s computational firepower is hovering between the intense 979 and 986 EH/s. The upward trend is stable, but current indicators suggest that the hashrate may still have plenty of room to climb from this point in time.
Record hashrates spotlight Bitcoin’s next ASIC supermachine
The top cryptocurrency by market capitalization has pushed network hashrates to the latest ever. At the time of reporting, the hashrate hovered between 979 and 986 EH/s and rebounded from the recent DIP to 939 EH/s on August 21st.
According to HashrateIndex.com’s 7-day Simple Moving Average (SMA) statistics, Bitcoin’s hashrate hit the 979 EH/S range on August 29, 2025.
Miners may be staring at some headwinds, especially in the future, I check the adjustments upwards, but the BTC price remains calm. Historically, September has been a tough month for Bitcoin, but October and the wider Q4 stretches often gave us strong bullish momentum. If history applies, this year’s rise in BTC prices can inject new profitability into mining operations. But of course, the reward depends on the past unfolding again.
It was undoubtedly priced to keep Bitcoin Miners true, but the efficiency leap from the next generation application-specific integrated circuits (ASIC) machines clearly function as important lifelines. Miners may soon catch another break. One standout is the Bitmain Antminer S23 Hydro 3U, which allows you to create 1.16 Petahash (ph/s) per second.

Simply put, only 1,000 of these machines are needed to pump out the full exer hash of raw computing power. The S23 Hydro 3us is not expected to compete in the market until January 2026. Meanwhile, Block’s Proto Rig is scheduled to begin shipping in September, bringing serious muscle and delivering 819 Terahash (TH/S) per second. This means that around 1,220 proto units can be reached in one EH/s mark.
Already in the scene, there’s the Bit Main Ant Minor S21 Hydro 3U, cranking out 860 Terra Hash (TH/s) per second, pushing 600 Th/s and Bit Deer’s Seal Minor A2 Pro Hydro to 500th with other heavy hitters like Auradin’s Terra Fulks AH3880. Microbt’s WhatsMiner M63S ++ rounds out its lineup with 464 TH/s with SHA256 power. And while these rigs crank out serious hash power, energy efficiency (measured in joules per terrahash (J/TH)) has seen great advances in recent years. That leap comes thanks to major improvements in cutting-edge chip design and cooling technology.
As machines emit a large amount of hash power and operators continue to cut J/TH, the overall hashrate has seen a strong boost. And it is possible that shipping these new models will be poised to rise further in the coming months.
