Bolts rust paving the highway between Bitcoin and Lightning

4 months ago 3 Min Read

On October 10th, Boltz announced the first official version of Boltz-rust (v.0.3.0), a software that allows you to integrate automatic exchange between Bitcoin and the Lightning Network (LN) in your wallet.

As explained by CriptoNoticias, Boltz is a service that allows you to: swap (Exchange) between Bitcoin’s main layer and LN, the instant payment layer. without the need for a custodian intermediary.

This means that Boltz users do not lose control of their Bitcoin (BTC) when moving it around.

What’s new now is Boltz-rust. It is a library written in the Rust programming language and designed to integrate directly into Bitcoin applications and wallets.

According to the announcement, the tool may already be implemented in applications such as Bull Bitcoin and Aqua Bitcoin.

Additionally, Boltz-rust serves as the technical foundation for Breez’s nodeless software development kit (SDK), a company focused on Bitcoin and Lightning Network solutions.

Boltz-rust is open source software and is free to deploy, but using the Boltz exchange service requires There is a 0.5% fee for Lightning to Bitcoin conversion and 0.1% fee for reverse conversion.

Therefore, wallets that integrate this tool can apply the same rates when working with the Boltz infrastructure.

What are the benefits of Bitcoin Voltulast?

Voltz-rust’s main contribution to the community is significant. This technology allows developers to incorporate these automatic exchanges within ourselves wallet.

This development automates the exchange process and minimizes user intervention. Instead of opening channels, managing liquidity, or relying on external platforms, wallets that incorporate Boltz-rust will be able to execute transactions directly as part of the flow of funds in and out.

This represents an important step towards wallet autonomy and decentralization by allowing users to perform exchange operations. without leaving the application environment.

Additionally, this system will allow the aforementioned wallets (and other future wallets depending on announcements) to offer payments on the Lightning Network. Each user does not need to operate their own node,a requirement that limits the adoption of this technology.

The launch of Boltulast may have a related impact. On the one hand, it facilitates the creation of wallets that can interact with different Bitcoin layers.

On the other hand, the following possibilities are also approaching. Wider Lightning Network DeploymentBy reducing technical friction and enabling instant transactions within the wallet.
