Pudgy penguin teeters on the rise despite overall NFT sales slump

Even though the overall NFT (non-fungible token) market has cooled down, DX terminals and Pudsey Penguins are hot.

  • NFT sales decreased 34% to $169.7 million, but the number of transactions increased 1.99% to 1,920,271.
  • DX Terminal rose more than 50% this week to top the collection with $13 million in sales.
  • Ethereum led the way with $86 million in NFT sales, but buyers overall fell by more than 80%.

According to CryptoSlam data, NFT sales fell 33.56% to $169.7 million from last week’s $256.9 million.

The backlash was even more severe for market participants, with the number of NFT buyers plummeting by 75.68% to 168,946 and the number of sellers plummeting by 73.94% to 152,283. Certain NFT collections (namely DX terminals and stubby penguins) have bucked this trend.

Bitcoin (BTC) price has retreated to the $112,000 level following last week’s rally. Ethereum (ETH) has also fallen from recent highs to $3,700. The global cryptocurrency market capitalization fell to $3.78 trillion from last week’s valuation of $4.2 trillion.

DX Terminal dominates NFT collection

DX Terminal on the Base blockchain took the top spot with a revenue of $13.03 million, an increase of 50.20%. This collection processed 570,066 transactions and attracted 169,973 buyers and 168,979 sellers.

CryptoPunks slipped to second place with sales of $11.06 million, down 36.92% from last week’s $17.33 million. The Ethereum collection saw 48 transactions with 26 buyers and 30 sellers.

DMarket remained in third place with $7.72 million, down 3.33% from last week’s $7.95 million. The Mythos-based collection recorded 225,129 transactions.

Pharaoh V3 Non Fungible on Avalanche (AVAX) surged to #4 with a huge jump of 41,365.84% with sales of $7.34 million. This collection had 554 transactions with 101 buyers and 38 sellers.

Moonbirds dropped to 5th place with $7.01 million, down 60.89% from the previous week’s $18.72 million. This collection processed 512 transactions with 205 buyers and 243 sellers.

The Pudsey Penguins came in sixth place with $6.63 million, an increase of 16.98% from last week’s $5.67 million. Ethereum Collection witnessed 172 transactions involving 81 buyers and 97 sellers.

Bored Ape Yacht Club rounded out the top seven with $5.3 million, an increase of 90.38%. This collection records 174 transactions with 103 buyers and 91 sellers.

Ethereum maintains lead despite decline

Ethereum remained the leading blockchain in NFT sales at $86.46 million, down 9.34% from $97.40 million last week.

The network recorded $12.46 million in wash trades, for a total of $98.92 million. The number of buyers plummeted by 81.35% to 19,509 people.

Base remained in second place with $15.56 million, an increase of 39.75% from last week’s $10.92 million. Blockchain recorded $5.29 million in wash transactions, with buyers down 66.63% to 95,027.

Bitcoin moved to third place with $14.04 million, up 20.92% from last week’s $10.97 million. The network had 3,188 buyers, a decrease of 86.51%.

Mythos Chain took fourth place with $12.86 million, down 2.13% from last week’s $13.07 million. Blockchain attracted 9,568 buyers, a decrease of 79.07%.

Avalanche soared 373.13% to move into fifth place with $10.63 million. There were only 280 blockchain buyers, a decrease of 88.49%.

Solana (SOL) secured 6th place with $7.58 million, up 0.81% from the previous week’s $7.74 million. The network recorded 9,554 buyers, a decrease of 83.18%.
