Bitget supports UNICEF’s global game jam and blockchain training efforts

2 months ago 3 Min Read

Bitget will support UNICEF’s global Game Jam hackathon and develop UNICEF’s first blockchain training module to equip youth with digital skills.

summary

  • This hackathon is open to participants under the age of 21 from eight countries.
  • As part of its partnership with UNICEF, Bitget Academy is also developing UNICEF’s first interactive blockchain training module for video game creation.

Bitget, the world’s leading universal exchange (UEX), has announced its official support for UNICEF’s first global game jam. Game Jam is a virtual hackathon designed to allow youth from eight countries to create original video games over 40 days. The hackathon is open to participants under the age of 21 from Armenia, Brazil, Cambodia, India, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Morocco, and South Africa.

This initiative is part of BitGet’s strategic partnership with UNICEF’s Game Changers Coalition, which aims to equip young people, especially girls in emerging countries, with STEAM skills and a pathway to entrepreneurship and innovation.

“To accelerate growth in emerging technology and finance, it’s important to introduce digital skills to children from an early age. Emerging technologies like blockchain provide the tools young people need to become entrepreneurs, builders, and innovators on a global scale. We plan to leverage this potential to make the digital space more inclusive and empower the next generation of female leaders,” said Gracie Chen, CEO of Bitget.

As part of the partnership, Bitget Academy, Bitget’s education division, is also developing UNICEF’s first interactive blockchain training module for video game production. The program is designed to teach participants practical blockchain skills such as smart contract integration, tokenization, and decentralized game mechanics, and is expected to attract 300,000 participants, including adolescent girls, parents, mentors, and teachers across eight countries.

This hackathon initiative comes on the heels of Bitget launching its “Lady Forward” campaign, marking a new chapter for Blockchain4Her, its flagship women-in-blockchain initiative. Lady Forward is expanding into university partnerships, internship programs, and women’s leadership programs to connect women across the blockchain ecosystem.

Since its launch last January, Blockchain4Her has already created a tangible impact, funding 11 women-led startups through its Pitch n’ Slay competition and engaging more than 300,000 people around the world through its collaboration with UNICEF’s Game Changers Coalition.

It also builds on the previous Blockchain4Youth initiative launched in May 2023 to equip students with digital and entrepreneurship skills through courses, hackathons, and mentorship programs.
