Did Ripple CTO’s unexpected interaction with Litecoin on X ruin the XRP beef?

2 months ago 2 Min Read

Ripple’s chief technology officer (CTO) David Schwartz recently had an unexpected interaction with Litecoin’s official X account, sparking speculation in the crypto community.

This comes amid previous clashes between Litecoin’s official X account and XRP, with the XRP community strongly pushing back against Litecoin’s derogatory comments.

In a recent exchange regarding X, the official Litecoin X account responded to Ripple CTO’s post with “Hello.”

Ripple CTO responded, “Are you still here? (Just kidding),” while the official Litecoin X account responded, “Enjoy your new position,” with a thumbs up emoji.

(Just kidding.)

Litecoin is apparently referring to the new role Schwartz took on after he announced he would step down as Ripple’s CTO at the close of trading in September.

Schwartz said he will continue to serve as Chief Technology Officer Emeritus while joining Ripple’s Board of Directors to support Ripple’s purpose and long-term goals. In a disclosure this week, Schwartz announced his role as strategic advisor to Evernorth, the first institutional investor for XRP adoption.

Did you crush the XRP beef?

In early September, the rift between the XRP community and Litecoin was sparked when Litecoin’s official X account shared a sarcastic post referring to XRP as having been “evaluated and found to be unnecessary.”

The Litecoin account previously compared XRP to a rotten egg in widely criticized posts and mocked Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse by calling him “Brad Garlic Mouth.” These comments infuriated the XRP community, which responded strongly.

Following a social media dispute between the two parties, Litecoin hinted that the comments were part of a series of light-hearted “rumours” targeting various blockchain projects.

The Litecoin account noted that prior to the XRP episode, it had previously targeted Solana and even made fun of its own ecosystem, and these rather provoked a mixed reaction of laughter and mild criticism.
