Hedera expands role in Machine Trust as WISeSat.Space satellite prepares for launch

2 months ago 4 Min Read

  • The launch of the WISeSat.Space satellite will add post-quantum ID support to IoT devices around the world.
  • Hedera provides evidentiary audit logs and low-cost transport for automated device activity.

SEALSQcorp, a subsidiary of WISeKey, is preparing to launch its upgraded WISeSat.Space satellite on November 19th through SpaceX. The program combines space-based broadcasts and hardware-level identification to advance machine identity for connected devices around the world.

Hedera Hashgraph acts as a trust layer that fixes the identity state of automated interactions at scale across the network.

SEALSQ introduces the QS1 chip to establish device identity at the silicon level. The chip creates unforgeable identifiers, protects keys within protected elements, and supports algorithms aimed at withstanding post-quantum threats. This hardware-based identity approach blocks tampering and secures connected devices at scale around the world.

Public verification can be achieved through decentralized identifiers (DIDs) and verifiable credentials (VCs). These standards allow for proof of identity without exposing the private key. This approach provides a uniform way to authenticate connected devices across regions and allows networks to establish a consistent and secure method to verify trust.

WISeSat.Space Connecting devices on Earth

WISeSat.Space extends identity distribution beyond terrestrial networks. This service broadcasts updates across the continent, supports device registration in remote zones, and enables continuous state synchronization. This network provides global availability for connected equipment with limited ground access.

Satellite links enable secure machine-to-machine messaging, allowing industrial operators, public authorities, and energy systems to verify a device’s identity in real time. As billions of connected units join communication networks, the demand for stronger identification is increasing.

After validation, the device initiates an automatic swap that handles data transfer, access signals, supply chain synchronization, and power delivery. Usage-based services and bandwidth payments rely on identity records stored in an immutable audit layer.

Hedera’s role in machine-driven transactions

Hedera Hashgraph enters this structure as a trust foundation for machine communication. Blockchain, which acts as a decentralized verification layer, fixes all identity state and audit records. Its consensus service generates time-stamped proofs, ensuring that all machine-to-machine transactions are verifiable, immutable, and low-cost.

SEALCOIN, a digital transaction layer built on Hedera, powers exchanges between devices. This setup supports automated payments, data permissions, supply chain signaling, and pay-as-you-go services. Hedera’s high throughput and fractional transaction fees enable machine-to-machine payments to be made instantly and securely at scale.

This partnership brings together secure identity, satellite coverage, and a public ledger. Each layer supports secure machine interaction across borders. Hedera will act as a trust layer, confirmed in a statement

Hedera is not for speculation. Hedera is for machine trust.
