Hut 8 partners with Anthropic and Fluidstack to build US AI data center

Important points

  • Hut 8 has partnered with Anthropic and Fluidstack to develop an AI data center in the US.
  • The agreement establishes a path to deploy at least 245 megawatts and up to 2,295 megawatts of capacity.

Hut 8 has entered into an AI infrastructure partnership with Anthropic and Fluidstack to develop large-scale AI data center infrastructure across the United States.

Under the agreement, Hut 8 will provide Anthropic with 245 megawatts to 2,295 megawatts of data center capacity, leveraging high-performance computing clusters operated by Fluidstack.

Hut 8 CEO Asher Genoot says the challenge of scaling advanced AI infrastructure ultimately comes down to power availability, positioning the company’s development strategy as a differentiator to meet the needs of leading model builders.

Genoot added that the collaboration with Anthropic and Fluidstack will combine energy, data center design, and compute delivery into a unified platform designed for hyperscale deployments.

The first phase will begin at Hut 8’s River Bend campus in Louisiana, with 245 megawatts of IT capacity supported by 330 megawatts of utility power. Future tranches include expansion rights at Riverbend and option development at an additional Hut 8 site.

The companies aim to deliver the new capacity in early 2027.

“This partnership is an extension of our existing work with Fluidstack and represents a new opportunity to work with Hut 8 to bring additional capacity online by early 2027,” said James Bradbury, Head of Computing at Anthropic. “Hut 8’s large-scale infrastructure procurement and delivery capabilities provide the runway we need to continue to evolve the capabilities of our models.”
