FutureBit announces US-designed home Bitcoin miner “Apollo III”

FutureBit today announced Apollo III, a new home Bitcoin mining system that combines a high-performance miner and a complete Bitcoin node within a single desktop device.

The system is built around a next-generation US-designed 3nm ASIC and a custom in-house controller, making it the first US-designed Bitcoin ASIC combined with a domestically produced hardware platform in a consumer desktop form factor, according to a note shared with . Bitcoin Magazine.

Apollo III continues FutureBit’s mission to decentralize hashing power through a low-power, person-focused system.

Founder John Stephanopoulos highlighted the device’s role in strengthening Bitcoin’s decentralization, noting the company’s 2024 milestone of mining a modern Sovereign Solo block.

“In 2024, our customer mined one of the first modern sovereign solo blocks, shocking the industry and proving that industrial scale is not a prerequisite for meaningful participation in Bitcoin,” Stephanopoulos said. “Apollo III expands that possibility. By giving individuals around 20 terahash of hashing power in an efficient and accessible manner, it strengthens the purpose Bitcoin was built for: decentralization.”

Key specs include efficiency up to 18 TH/s in Turbo mode and up to 15 J/TH in Eco mode, an integrated full Bitcoin node with solo mining capability, and a desktop-class controller with 8 ARM cores, 8 GB RAM, and 2 TB SSD.

Designed for continuous operation in the home or office, Apollo III delivers over 10 TH/s while consuming similar power to standard household appliances. The company said Apollo III is a personal computing solution for Bitcoin infrastructure, giving individuals the tools to run both miners and nodes without relying on industrial-scale operations.

Bitcoin mining at home with FutureBit

FutureBit’s Apollo series of home Bitcoin miners, including the Apollo II with 10 TH/s and a full Linux node, enable mining at home while promoting network decentralization.

Following Satoshi’s original vision, the company aims to restore “full Bitcoin citizenship” by combining mining power with full node execution. Home mining is no longer competitive for profits, but it offers privacy, education, and the ability to check your balance without relying on a third party.

Home miners can contribute to decentralization, both geographically and in block template diversity, reducing the impact of large industrial pools and potential regulation.

FutureBit aims to facilitate a more resilient, decentralized, and user-controlled Bitcoin network by allowing individuals to mine and run their own nodes.
