Assetera, a regulated trading platform based in Austria, has introduced an API that allows cryptocurrency exchanges to provide tokenized financial products such as stocks and government bonds without applying for their own mifid license.
This tool is designed to insert gaps in the European market. There, strict financial rules made it difficult for crypto platforms to support tokenized securities. While Assetera can integrate these products directly into the platform, Assetera manages all compliance, including Knowledge Customers (KYCs) and Money Laundering Anti-Money Laundering Checks.
The API supports more than 60 tokenized securities at launch, including US Treasury bonds, blue chip equity and ETFs. It is also compatible with backed finances and tokens issued by other providers. These offers are legally governed by all 30 EU and EEA countries under Assetera’s existing license.
There is a turning point in the adoption of tokenized securities. Following the announcement of XStocks’ Backed Finance, featuring over 55 tokenized stocks and ETFs at Kraken, the race continues for exchanges to provide tokenized securities to users, Assetera said in a press release.
“This effectively destroys two-tier systems where only the largest players (Robinhood, Kraken, Gemini, etc.) can quickly track European tokenized inventory listings. While Acetera can legally launch tokenized securities in weeks rather than years, Assetera can handle all compliance, to be responsible for all compliance, binding, and binding.
Acetera says it is in discussions with many top 20 global crypto exchanges and expects trading volumes of up to 1 billion euros ($1.1 billion) in its first year. Such magnitude could make tokenized securities a mainstream feature of crypto investments in Europe.
