Adam Back presents Blockstream’s Bitcoin First Infrastructure Vision at Bitcoin 2025

8 months ago 3 Min Read

BlockStream co-founder and CEO Adam Back took the stage at the Bitcoin 2025 conference with a clear message. Bitcoin is becoming the foundation of global finance, and Blockstream is building the infrastructure to support it.

“So I think Bitcoin is too early,” he said. He emphasized that from El Salvador’s president to “patient zero” and that from the rapid spread of institutional adoption, “people from all walks of business management and politics have become orange.”

Citing Bitcoin’s accelerated growth trajectory, the back referenced Hal Finney’s prediction that the addressable market for Bitcoin could reach $200 trillion. “We’re much closer to that situation today,” he pointed out. He once again implied that this was just the beginning of Bitcoin.

To meet that growing demand, Back has announced Blockstream’s plans to support its journey from 100 million to 1 billion users to 1 billion users by simplifying asset management for independent and Bitcoin natives. “We’re focusing on Bitcoin on lasers,” he said. “Blockstream is here to provide the infrastructure to enable it.”

In a detailed presentation, Back outlined the five core pillars that drive BlockStream’s strategy.

  • Infrastructure Expansion: “Bitcoin is becoming the dominant financial assets and platform for global transactions. Blockstream is enabling and supporting the infrastructure around it.”
  • Unified Platform: BlockStream develops one platform built for the Bitcoin economy, including consumer products (safe and self-supporting), enterprise solutions (Bitcoin Rail asset transfer), and institutional integration (management of large-scale investments).
  • Blockstream App: Designed to streamline your own obligations, the app simplifies onboarding, supports BTC, LBTC, and USDT, and provides advanced features to experienced users.
  • Enterprise Tools: With custody, risk-free tokenization of smart contracts, and SDK/API-enabled infrastructure, BlockStream is pushing corporate Bitcoin use cases.
  • Security and Ecosystem Design: “Built to be safe, proven and long-lasting,” says Buck, referring to Blockstream’s Bitcoin First Architecture. “Security is our cornerstone, and every product connects to every layer.”

Finally, Buck reaffirmed his long-term vision: “The fiscal future will run with Bitcoin.”
