To close the second quarter of 2025, Coinbase lists four new tokens: Newton (Newt), Sonic (S), Subsquid (SQD), and Popcat. The latter two are available specifically in the EU, where Coinbase recently acquired a MICA license.
With the exception of Sonic, most of these lists had a strange effect on token prices. These actions seem fully explained, and Coinbase continues to build a diverse portfolio of available assets.
Coinbase’s latest list
One of the main lists for this round was the Newton Protocol Newt Token. The token was released early today with Binance Alpha Airdrop.
Coibase acted quickly to capture the high enthusiasm surrounding Newt on the same date list.
Developed by Magic Labs, Newton Protocol is a Crypto UX on-chain automation protocol powered by AI agents. This allows users to delegate complex cross-chain actions to AI agents.
Over the past few months, it appears that Coinbase is accelerating its rates. Earlier this month, the US-based exchange listed Pancakeswap and Fartcoin.
Recently, Coinbase received a MICA license to enter the regulated EU market. As part of the entry, the exchange lists Popcat and SQDs for German residents.

The market impact of these lists was muted due to the availability of both tokens at Coinbase in other regions. Therefore, the EU list was highly priced.
Subsquid’s SQD token was listed by Coinbase Global earlier this month and is now available in the German market.
Anyway, the list is a major boost to the growth of Subsquid’s ecosystem. The platform is intended to power an open database network for AI agents, and increasing availability will only help with this goal.
Additionally, Coinbase also released its list of Sonic yesterday. The Layer-1 blockchain has distributed one of the biggest airdrops throughout June.
Sonic saw a notable fix over the past week due to high sellouts from airdrop recipients. However, on the Coinbase list, there was a sudden rebound in Altcoin prices.

As always, Coinbase has chosen scatter shots of unrelated projects for its latest token list. For example, Newt and SQD both focus on AI, but aim to be used in a variety of ways.
At this point, it doesn’t seem that Coinbase has any other major plans to change Q3 tactics. The replacement will undergo a system upgrade next month, but did not suggest any new features.
