Crescendo Hard Forks lead major updates

8 months ago 6 Min Read

It existsProof of Work Cryptocurrency and Blockchain Platforms, which leverage innovative Ghost Doug Protocol, was a key topic in 2025. Crescendo Hard ForkActivated in May, converting network performance, The scary player in blockchain space.

With a market capitalization of around $1.8 billion and a ranking of the highest 50 cryptocurrency, Kaspa is attracting attention for its scalability and potential to rival its established networks. This article explores important updates to Caspa over the first five months, focusing on Crescendo Hard Fork, its technological advancements, and other developments that shape its trajectory.

What is Kaspa?

The customer is a Layer-1 A blockchain designed for high transaction throughput and instant verification. Unlike traditional blockchains that block processes sequentially, Kaspa’s GhostDag protocol allows parallel blocks to coexist, reducing bottlenecks and enabling faster transaction processing.

Caspa natively handles 10 blocks/sec (bps) $What Token trading for about $0.07, According to Coinmarketcap. The scalability-focused project draws comparisons with Bitcoin and positions it as a potential solution to scale challenges Proof of work system.

Crescendo Hard Fork: Caspa’s Game Changer

The most important update to Caspa for 2025 is the Crescendo Hard Fork. Activated on May 5th2025, when the network difficulty adjustment algorithm (DAA) score reached 110,165,000. Details in a BSC News Report On April 1, 2025, the hard fork increased the block production rate of Caspa from 1 bps to 10 bps, reducing block time from 1,000 ms to 100 ms.

Driven technical upgrades Node version v1.0.0 Built in the Rust programming language, significantly improving network scalability and user experience.

Crescendo has achieved around 4,000 transactions per second (TPS) with an efficiency of 80-90% under the current Mempool policy. If transaction demand exceeds capacity, efficiency can reach 100%. A 100ms block time reduces transactions almost instantly, with 50ms reach and mining completion completed in 200ms.

This efficiency is due to increased block parallelism, reducing miner monopoly and increasing fairness, but slightly increasing collision rates as a trade-off in scalability.

Kaspa Improvement Proposal (KIP)

Hard Fork has integrated several KaspA improvement proposals (KIPs) to expand the network capabilities.

  • KIP-9: It implements a Storm (Storage Mass) subprotocol to enable multiple UTXO storage for future prevention.
  • KIP-10: Adds support for basic contracts and additional addresses, enhancing scripting capabilities.
  • KIP-13: Implement stricter transient storage requirements to maintain network stability.
  • KIP-14: It supports payloads of any data, such as smart contract calls, lays the foundation for layer 2 solutions.
  • KIP-15: Introducing “archive only” transactions, allowing for unreliable sequences and acceptance proofs.

These KIPs position Kaspa in advanced features, particularly in smart contract development and scalability, making them a competitive Layer-1 blockchain.

Upgrading new wallets and nodes

The change for key users was the introduction of Kaspa-ng wallets, replacing the retired Kaspa Web and KDX wallets. Available on Kaspa’s official wallet portal, Kaspa-NG offers improved security and functionality, ensuring seamless interaction with upgraded networks. The node operator had to update to the latest version where resources were provided for node upgrades and solo mining after forking.

Smart contract development

Crescendo Hard Forks dominate the Kaspa renewal, while other developments contribute to its ecosystem. Blockchain Protocol is working on smart contract functionality as shown in kas.live Page updated in 2025. KaspaSmartContracts is committed to bringing programmable blockchain capabilities to the fast Layer-1 platform.

“The next evolution of the Kaspa ecosystem is coming. Smart contracts will soon bring programmable blockchain capabilities to the world’s fastest Layer-1 platform,” reads the Kas.live website.

Kaspa Smart Contract aims to be a game-changing innovation for developers, with enhanced security, fast speeds, low fees and developer-friendly documentation.

Although no specific release dates are provided, this ongoing effort suggests Kaspa’s ambitions to support distributed applications and layer 2 solutions, potentially increasing its use cases and adoption.

Leading players in the Layer 1 ecosystem

Crescendo Hard Fork is a crucial moment for Kaspa, addressing key blockchain challenges such as scalability and transaction speed. By increasing TPS to 4,000 and reducing check times, Kaspa is suitable for handling high transaction volumes, making it attractive for applications that require fast and reliable processing.

Integrating KIP with Kaspa-ng wallets further strengthens the ecosystem, focusing on the long-term ambitions of smart contract signals. These advancements are in line with Kaspa’s goal of becoming a major layer-1 blockchain that can compete with established networks such as Bitcoin and Ethereum.

Going forward, Kaspa’s smart contract development will be a game changer, enabling distributed applications and attracting developers to the ecosystem. As Kaspa continues to be built on successful technical upgrades, its position as a top-notch blockchain could solidify.
