Decentralized virtual social platform Decentraland has launched a new desktop client and has shown noticeable advances in how users can experience the spatial environment. Important features of the new desktop client include performance enhancements and smooth gameplay. This upgraded client will help users speed up load times, increase frame rates and improve multiplayer interactions, even in areas with high traffic.
Additionally, new clients bring the world of Decentraland in innovative ways, introducing dynamic lighting effects in binary sun and moon, new beach and sea views, and procedurally generated environments such as dynamic trees, leaves, water, and sound effects. The landscape now loads up to 80 plots and offers users a larger and visually richer experience “from horizon to horizon.”
This update also introduces new engagement mechanics. The much-anticipated features, daily quests, and mini-games have been released as part of the beta release, with more content planned for the future. Daily Quests are designed to enhance active participation by encouraging users to explore residency and complete various tasks in exchange for rewards such as wearables and emotes. Additionally, the beta release includes a new badge system that motivates users by tracking and showing their achievements on the platform.
Decentraland now features an expanded player profile and a redesigned backpack, allowing users to customize their avatars in a more intuitive way. Navigation streamlines the quick access bar for profile, map and backpack features. Additionally, the avatars have undergone upgrades, including smoother movements, enhanced rendering, and more natural interactions with the environment. New chat bubbles, name color differences, and emoji integration enhance communication and make it more interactive and attractive.
