When Justin Sun last stepped into the US, he was Grenada’s WTO ambassador and navigating the rocky seas of former President Biden’s code crackdown.

Times have changed. Now he’s dining at an event hosted by President Donald Trump for the biggest holders of Trump Memocoin, as publishers see potential Tron Ett, signaling an astonishing reversal of Crypto’s American fate.

The Tron founder spoke only to the president’s post-dinner after dinner, filled with protests outside the White House, dismissing the claim that tokens are a means of bribery. He called skeptics myopic and argued that Trump’s code embrace could trigger a new era of American digital asset innovation.

“All hatred really needs to be paid attention,” San told Koindsk, describing Trump’s support for Crypto as one of the president’s best decisions. “There’s something positive going on in the industry.”

He described the dinner as a clear sign. The United States had regained its status as a global hub for crypto, showing a sharp turnaround from the Biden administration’s industry war.

“At Trump’s dinner, some supporters moved to places like Hong Kong and Singapore, who told me they were thinking of leaving the US for the Biden administration,” Sun said. “Even the consensus has begun to host events outside of the US.”

“But now they’ve changed their minds. It’s going to make everyone come back to the US,” he continued.

Criticism of Trump’s decision to launch Memecoin has quickly infuriated from mainstream media, including attempts to link token holders to white nationalism.

Sun dismissed the critics by highlighting that critics have all rights to express their views under the First Amendment.

MemeCoins has its benefits

The protesters met Memocoin loyal people who attended Trump’s dinner, but skepticism about the memecoin is not limited to outsiders.

During the Fireside Chat during the 2025 consensus, Dave Portnoy, founder of Barstool Sports, described the memecoin as essentially “gambling,” questioning its longevity.

“I know why people like it,” Portnoy said. “It’s a form of gambling, and it’s a Ponzi scheme. I don’t mean that in a negative way.”

The sun disagrees. Rather than viewing meme coins as gambling and ponzi schemes, he positions them as legitimate segments of the digital asset market.

Sun has pointed tokens like Doge and Shib to users as examples of success stories installed in Crypto. He emphasized that Tron’s goal is to support “all works of code grow and become mainstream.”

“I totally think that Mimecoin has merit,” San told Koindsk. “It’s like doing business. Some people are successful and going to zero. It’s entrepreneurship.”
