Cargo theft unit detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department, working in partnership with Los Angeles Police, the Port of Los Angeles Police Department, Union Pacific Police and Airport Police have arrested 41-year-old Oscar David Bolero Mancola and 25-year-old Yonaiker Rafael Martinez Ramos.
Bitcoin Miner is a specialized computer designed to solve complex mathematical problems that validate transactions on the Bitcoin network and acquire cryptocurrency as rewards.
LAPD did not respond immediately to requests for comment Decryption.
In addition to the Bitcoin miners, detectives have collected stolen items worth $1.2 million, including tequila, speakers, coffee, clothing, shoes, body washes and pet food. LAPD did not specify destinations for other stolen goods, but said Bitcoin miners were in cargo containers heading to Hong Kong.
“This case highlights the ongoing collaboration between law enforcement agencies to combat cargo theft and protect the integrity of commercial transport operations,” LAPD said in a statement. “The investigation is still underway and additional arrests could continue.”

Bitcoin Miner Theft
The attack is the latest in a series of recovery by US law enforcement for stolen Bitcoin mining equipment.
Last summer, in July 2024, LAPD arrested Brian Tora on suspicion of owning a stolen Bitcoin miner worth $579,000. That same month, the Baton Rouge Police Department seized 250 stolen Bitcoin miners after raiding abandoned warehouses in Louisiana.
