Base, Coinbase’s Layer 2 network built on Ethereum, activated a new bridge this Thursday that connects directly to Solana. This integration is currently available on mainnet and will allow developers to move assets between both ecosystems frictionlessly.
In a statement, the Base team emphasized: Its goal is to simplify the movement of value between chains.. He pointed out that users need to be able to discover apps regardless of what network they’re built on.
Verification of movements between networks is performed by the Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP), a standard for interoperability between networks, developed by Chainlink in conjunction with nodes operated by Coinbase.
The bridge is now operational Can be used with applications such as Zora, Virtuals, Aerodrome, Flaunch, and Relay. Thanks to this, users will be able to not only transfer assets such as SOL and tokens from Solana to Base, but also manipulate them directly within these platforms.
This initiative is open source and Its implementation is available on GitHubSo developers can integrate it into their own applications. With this, Base aims to integrate as an integration point for assets from multiple networks.
It’s worth remembering that CriptoNoticias advanced these plans in September. At the time, the network’s creator, Jesse Pollak, detailed that the tool would target various core features, including importing tokens from Solana, as well as the use of SOL within applications developed with Base.
