During the crypto market crash, an astonishing amount of assets were moved out of U.S. government wallets.
A total of $7.5 million worth of cryptocurrencies were transferred to different wallets in the past 24 hours, according to Arcam data.
Officials transferred $300,000 worth of NEXO, $3 million worth of WETH, and $4.2 million worth of TRX in the past 24 hours. NEXO and TRX assets were reportedly seized two years ago as part of the Alameda Research investigation, while WETH reportedly comes from cryptocurrencies seized between 2022 and 2024 in the Bitfinex hacker Ilya Liechtenstein case.
These transactions represent just a small portion of the U.S. government’s vast crypto portfolio. According to Arkham data, there are 613 addresses affiliated with the U.S. government, with total crypto assets of more than $28.5 billion.
Among the main assets held by the government, the following stand out:
- Bitcoin (BTC): 326,588 BTC – approximately $27.82 billion
- USDT: $351.4 million
- Ethereum (ETH): 64,731 ETH – approximately $179 million
- WBTC: $63.7 million
- BNB + WBNB: Total approximately $52 million
- USDC: $11.58 million
- Wes: $11.43 million
- DAI: $8.67 million
- UNI: $1.93 million
