Soneium, an Ethereum Layer 2 network developed by Sony Block Solutions Labs, introduces a system aimed at transforming everyday on-chain activities into something closer to a digital identity.
The demonstration system, called Soneium Score, tracks user activity across the ecosystem and generally rewards consistent engagement, according to a press release shared with Defiant.
The platform essentially translates routine chain actions, such as exchanging tokens, dyeing and building NFTs, into points that contribute to the gaming identity layer, the company claims.
Users can climb seasonal leaderboards and earn an intransitable SBT badge that marks contributions forever. In the meantime, developers get ready-made ways to find existing users without building complex integrations from scratch.
In a commentary on the rebels, the spokesman said the current badge design was “highly popular by default.”
“SBTS marks presence and activity in key-on-chain events and campaigns. Whether access, curation, or reward, we consider it an identity primitive that other builders can plug in.
Fighting Bot
To better understand participation, the Soneium score examines several important factors. Track daily activity streaks, liquidity contributions across the protocol, NFT holdings, and bonus points for participating in featured projects.
To date, many blockchain platforms have not actually provided continuity to their users, the company claims. Soneium aims to address this by providing a more reliable pool of participants for developers while building a unified on-chain identity.
To prevent washing transactions and bot activities, all participants must opt-in to the official score site. “While it is difficult to eliminate all forms of “fake” activity, the structure is designed to minimize its impact and reward its lasting and authentic use,” the spokesman added.
Cross-chain expansion plan
Season 1, the first scoring period for Soneium scores, begins with a lineup of ecosystem partners. During this period, users will earn highly reputable points by participating in activities across Defi, games and digital collectibles.
Anyone who reaches the 80-point threshold within the season will receive an SBT badge linked to a billable wallet via Opensea.
At launch, Soneium scores will focus solely on activities within the Soneium ecosystem, but the spokesman said the team is “interested in examining future extensions that will allow for more cross-chain reputation, especially when there is community demand.”

The rollout followed Soneium’s MainNet debut in January, which sparked early criticism for withdrawing more than 14 million wallets during testing, limiting certain tokens. As of reporting time, the network had a total of $126.5 million locked in total, down about 38% from its record high in late May, according to Defilama.
