The approved funds will be used for major upgrades focusing on scalability, developer experience, and interoperability. Major developments include Ouroboros LEIOS for increased throughput, HYDRA for fast and low-cost transactions, mitril enhancements to reduce bootstrap times, and project Acropolis for modular node architecture.
“This is a milestone moment for Cardano,” he said, “input|output.” “For the first time, core protocol development is being funded directly by the community. This vote of trust allows us to move forward with full transparency, shared responsibility and a new commitment to creating an open and resilient ecosystem.”
The funding structure incorporates milestone-based payments managed by Intersect, with releases subject to validated delivery. The IOE provides monthly updates, engineering timesheets, and quarterly budget reports for community monitoring.
“Securing this funding is the first,” said Rickyland, general manager of input | Output Engineering. “This is a vote of confidence in Cardano’s future, a model of how decentralized funding and delivery work at scale. The actual work is equipped with integrity, transparency reporting, and community building and building.”
The IOE plans to engage external vendors, particularly from the Cardano developers’ ecosystem coalition, as part of a future funding round to strengthen decentralization.
