The world begins home iris scans in Argentina

8 months ago 2 Min Read

A proof of personality and wallet platform, World allows Argentine users to request a domestic iris scan for verification. This new feature is currently only available in the capital, but will be expanded nationwide.

The world begins to deploy domestic iris scans in Argentina

The world is implementing measures to facilitate access to Argentina’s verification services. Local media said the Biometric ID project has begun rolling out a home-based driving service, allowing Argentina to check their identity cards at home.

The new features are being implemented in collaboration with Rappi, one of LATAM’s biggest delivery companies. This process involves transporting an ORB, one of the devices designed to check the user’s personality, and subsequent scanning of the user’s biometric data.

Now, World allows less invasive verification options, including scans of government-issued IDs like passports from within the world’s app. Users can also choose to validate both.

Martín Mazza, general manager of Tool for Humanity Latam, told local media that this was a company milestone.

He said:

This is because both Rappi and World share a strong belief that technology and innovation could be a powerful catalyst for Latin American advancement.

The alliance was revealed in November. At the time, the world was investigated by Chilean authorities about expanding these services to the country. This was denied by Rappi.

Nonetheless, Juan Jose Guerrero, global operations manager at Rappi, said he is aiming to extend this feature to other latitudes.

He emphasized:

We started in Argentina and we are already working to expand this partnership across Latin America. This allows thousands of people to simply, quickly and conveniently see their humanity from their homes.

For now, the service is only available in the capital, but Rappi hopes to reach the entire country in the future.
