- Vechain has announced the first wave of Vebetter Grant’s proposals on Vechain’s discourse. It is recommended that users participate in the process.
- Vechain’s improved grant structure focuses on two important categories: X-to-earn grants and ecosystem infrastructure grants.
Vechain has activated its first grant based on the upgraded Vebetter Grants program 3.0. Communities are now invited to vote and support direct funding for meaningful sustainability projects. The first suggestion to consider is for an app called Reuse, which aims to promote more sustainable behavior in the second-hand clothing market.
Reuse is requesting a $25,000 grant from Vebetterdao. The grant will be distributed in two stages. One launches an app, and the other supports onboarding retail partners. Proposals submitted by grantteam.veworld.vet will remain open for a 7-day vote. So far, 533 wallets have voted, with 65.4% in the advantage and 4.2% abstaining against 30.4%, but the quorum needed to move forward has not yet been achieved.
The Reuse Team highlights that the fashion industry is responsible for 10% of the world’s carbon emissions, earning textile waste and water consumption. They argue that the second-hand market faces several hurdles. Consumers have little incentive to buy second-hand clothing. There are no clear metrics to track environmental impacts, no unified reward system or transparent tracking.
Reuse provides a solution. Users upload receipts and photos to confirm purchases through local stores and apps like VINTED, and earn B3TR tokens in return, and purchase second-hand items. These tokens are used by Vebetterdao or to participate in governance votes via Vot3 tokens, allowing users to track positive environmental impacts, such as saving waste and reducing Co2 emissions.
I emphasized that “Reuse simplifies sustainable living by betting second-hand shopping. Users can see firsthand the positive environmental benefits of purchasing, while supporting local businesses and helping to build a more greener community.”
Vebetter grants an application form
The Vebetter Grants program application process is designed to guide applicants through six key steps, from submitting their initial application online to receiving funds in the end. This process begins with an initial review followed by a detailed discussion of the promising project. If the project moves forward, the team will provide customized grants and go through the community voting stage. Once approved, funds will be paid based on well-defined milestones.
Vechain’s official X post categorizes two major funding tracks available through the program. The first, called X-to-earn Grant, is aimed at sustainability-focused apps that reward users with environmentally friendly actions. To qualify, applicants must present a work demo, MVP, or prototype with a clear path to launching with Vebetter and a viable business model. As reported previously by the CNF, these grants can offer up to $30,000 B3TR tokens aimed at promoting actual impact. You can think of apps like “to-recycle” platforms that reward recycling.
The team said, “By implementing a more streamlined process, all proposals will benefit from the transparent community verification process, a critical feature of the expanded grant system.” Second, the Ecosystem Infrastructure Grant is designed to support protocol developers, tool builders and infrastructure teams that help strengthen the Vebetter ecosystem. Successful applicants can receive up to $50,000 in their B3TR tokens.
Those who receive the grant still have 100% ownership of the project and will benefit from milestone-based funds that will help them turn ideas into reality. “Beyond financial resources, it offers technical guidance from blockchain experts, opportunities for collaboration with fellow builders, and amplification of marketing through the Vechain Foundation channel,” the article also highlights.
Projects that directly address Vebetterdao’s goals and align with the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals will particularly prioritize those with potential for mass markets (Web2-enabled). Additionally, we strongly recommend applying projects that will help improve infrastructure, tools, security and scalability across the Vechain ecosystem.
