Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin has taken an important step towards supporting blockchain privacy by transferring around 693.91 ETH ($183 million) and 340,900 USDC to Railgun Protocol, a leading on-chain privacy solution.
Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin transfers more than $1.8 million in ETH and USDC to the privacy protocol Railgun
According to blockchain data, the transfer was done via an intermediate wallet address starting with 0x18…F10E.
Buterin, known by his ENS domain name Vitalik.eth, has long advocated for user privacy in the Ethereum ecosystem. His latest deal with Railgun reaffirms this stance. In his past statement, Butalin opposes the idea that privacy tools are inherently questionable, and states that privacy is normal.
Railgun’s Privacy Pool Protocol enhances transactional privacy while incorporating security measures to prevent abuse. This system allows users to adopt mechanisms to prevent malicious actors from abuse the network while hiding transactional data.
What is Railgun?
RailGun is a zero-knowledge privacy protocol that allows private deficiencies and token transactions in Ethereum without leaving the chain. It supports multiple assets and is aimed at both retail and enterprise users who want on-chain privacy.
The protocol has begun to attract attention amid increasing demand for Web3 privacy protection tools, especially as regulators around the world begin to scrutinize blockchain transactions more closely.
Exposure of protocols like Buterin’s Railgun can send messages to the Ethereum community and developers. Privacy can be integrated into mainstream blockchain usage. This move comes as privacy projects face increasing regulatory pressures, especially in the US and the EU.
Buterin’s support could encourage broader adoption of privacy infrastructure and more nuanced discussions about privacy rights in a decentralized world.
