Founder of the deprecated AEX Exchange released on Thai bail

8 months ago 5 Min Read

The account claiming to be one of the victims of “Huang Tianwei’s Escape” has shared the latest information on Huang Tianwei, founder of the decommissioned AEX Crypto Exchange (formerly known as Bitera).

The post alleges that the controversial exchange founder was given bail and released to his family. Tianwei was in custody after being arrested at Don Mueang International Airport in Thailand in connection with a fraud case that included 200 million baht (approximately $5.7 million).

On June 12th, Huang Tianwei, founder of AEX Anyin Exchange, was arrested at Don Mueang International Airport, Thailand.

Thai Immigration Bureau arrested a 39-year-old Chinese man with a passport named Huang Tianwei at Dong Muean International Airport.

He was previously issued an arrest warrant from the Chiang Lai District Court on suspicion of a major fraud case.

This incident occurred on April 23, 2025. The two Chinese victims met with Huang in May district, Chiang Lai province, Thailand to negotiate cryptocurrency investment cooperation. …pic.twitter.com/zfz2qb140t

Huang Tianwei is on bail

According to a post published on July 3, Huang Tianwei, founder of AEX (formerly Bit ERA), was released on bail to his Thai family.

Operating since 2013, AEX has been able to serve long-term cryptocurrency users and accumulate important user funds.

Unfortunately, Tianwei reportedly refused to let the exchange users withdraw their funds after the exchange collapsed.

So far, he reportedly was able to recover the funds he had deposited in his exchange. However, even these recovery was possible as the creditors became extreme lengths to force Amane Vai’s hands.

For example, the post claims that Long Hua has raised 30,000 (unidentified currency) from the victim group and uses the genealogy of fan’s family to find and disrupt the tomb of Liajan’s ancestors. The alleged vandalism act will help the group recover approximately 80% of the funds in the process, with the remaining 20% expected to be paid over two years under a confidentiality agreement.

In another notable case, the victim lured huang tianwei, took him to the highway and resorted to collecting the funds he had been deposited in exchange.

Another major AEX investor, Wu Jun, reportedly also recovered the funds.

Until now, Tianwei appears to have done everything to frustrate customer recovery efforts. Only those who directly faced Tianwei and put pressure on it could get their funds back.

Huang Tianwei was arrested on June 12th at Dong Muean International Airport in Thailand. The 39-year-old Chinese citizen was arrested by Thai immigration police.

Before Tianwei was arrested, the Chiang Rai District Court had issued an arrest warrant on suspicion of involvement in a serious fraud case.

The incident involved two Chinese victims who met Huang Huang in the May Sai district of Thailand’s Chiang Rai province, and discussed cryptocurrency investment cooperation. After the meeting, the victim transferred approximately 200 million baht (about $6 million) worth of cryptocurrency to a wallet controlled by Huang via two transactions.

Unfortunately, the other party did not respect the agreement and did not cut contact. When the two victims learned they had been deceived, they immediately had their lawyers report the case to the Chen Lai district police station on April 30, accusing Huang Han of alleged fraud.

After receiving the report, the Immigration Bureau successfully grabbed a fan who was preparing to flee the country at 6am on June 12th at the International Departure Hall at Dong Muean Airport in Bangkok.
